Thanks to an incredibly kind act by Ashes Rising and also due to the anniversary our friend's death yesterday. I went on a solo Jerry extravaganza all day.

So if I was ship wrecked(which is a real possibility for me)and could only have one solo Jerry song that song would be:
When the Hunter Gets Captured by the Game.

It's a combination of the melody, the lyrics and Jerry riff. This song is almost a perfect fit for Jerry's voice/range. We all know Jerry loved to cover Motown tunes and he hits this one perfectly. I know its not an actual song written by Jerry but hey it worked when he did it for me. Anyone else?

I think that Rhapsody in Red live, or maybe Arabia do it for me.

Kirk: "So, we're stranded here, in the middle of a Klingon occupation army."
Spock: "So it would seem. Not a very pleasant prospect."
Kirk: "You have a gift for understatement, Mister Spock. It's not a very pleasant prospect at all."

Hopefully they have Russian Lullaby

Ruben and Cherise.
Probably one of my top five Hunter/Garcia songs ever.

Do we have to pick just one? Because I'm really torn right now between Gomorrah and Cats Under The Stars.

Fuck it.

Rubin & Cherise.

Hard to pick one favorite - but some tunes in the rotation from '83 come to mind

My favorite JGB shows are 11/4/81, 3/7/82, 5/31/83 and 12/2/83 and of course 5/5/82

If I got to hear Jerry sing just one more tune it might be the "I'll take a melody" from 12/2/83. Love the part when he sing, "Iiiiiii understand, why the oooold fisherman...sails alone, sails alone...sails Ahhhlone" I remember the first time I heard that rehearsed section they do in the middle of the jam and being totally blown away. Sort of like what the GD used to do with the late 70's Dancin' in the streets.

Or maybe the Rhapsody in Red from 5/31/83...or the Tangled up in Blue from 11/4/81.

What, nobody picked "Eep Hour"? (j/k) Seriously, "Ruben and Cherise" is in a class by itself for a Hunter/Garcia composition but "Arabia" would probably hold up better to repeated listenings on a desert isle.

All of these "Desert Island Polls" need to be taken from the perspective of as much as I can pull as possible.

Therefore, Top Five Desert Island Albums: (without too much of a tip of the hat to Nick Hornby), I always hedge my bets with double albums, rich in content, and diversity.

The lamb lies down in broadway
Quadrophenia
One from the Vault
Dicks Picks 27
Beatles White...

Mission in the Rain- there's a live version from 1976 somewhere out there that's like the perfect song.
